Baptism is an act of faith and obedience to the commands of Christ.
Baptism is a symbol of the forgiveness and cleansing Christ has done in your life—a public A public declaration that you are now a follower of Christ.
It is a public confession of your faith in, and commitment to, Jesus Christ.
It is the next step after salvation through repentance and faith and is an important foundation for the Christian life.
Today we were blessed to share in the baptism of father and son, Ken and Dillon Villeret.
Thank You Lord for your mercy and our blessing in this event!
Ven Trip started our Men’s Ministry in January. At our first gathering we had thirty men. Many were first time visitors. PTL!
His vision for the Ministry is, To continue to grow in our gifts with Christ love forging us together as one body moving His Kingdom forward.”
The PURPOSE of the Ministry is LOVING GOD, LOVING ONE ANOTHER, and LOVING OTHERS TO CHRIST!
To achieve this purpose statement there are four areas on which we will focus:
Paul said, “Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.” Romans 10:17
a)Discipline yourself to desire God’s Word.
b) Set a goal of a book/chapter a day, a yearly plan, at a specific time, morning or night.
c) Go to a special place in your home.
2. Study His Word: “Work hard so you can present yourself to God and receive His approval. Be a good worker, one who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly explains the word of truth.” 1 Timothy2:15
a) Get a good Bible commentary.
b)Listening to sermons daily (20 minutes a morning in your car).
c)Call and ask someone, discuss the Word with an accountability partner.
3. Accountability/Transparency: “Confess your trespasses to one another and pray for one another that you may be healed. The effective fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.” James 5:16
a. Jesus does some of His best work through us as a body.
b) God wants each and everyone of us to grow not only in attendance but also in repentance. . .
c) . . . and His righteousness, Matthew 6:33.
4. Getting uncomfortable:
a) By sharing your testimony with someone.
b) Stepping out into areas gifts in you that you don’t even know exist.
C. Surrender your comfort zone –Fully Rely on Christ in all you do.
Ven challenged each of us strive toward a fuller Christian walk.
He said, “Men, if you want to grow in Christ,
you must lay aside those things that keep you from him.”

“With a long life I will satisfy him And let him see My salvation.” Psalm 91:16
Ed and Lavonia England have been a vital part of our family at First Independent Methodist Church for a number of years. Ed turned 100 years old in 2016 and Lavonia turns 100 this week.
We thank our Lord for Ed & Lavoina as we celebrate this huge milestone with them.
What a blessing they are to our family.
“And let us consider how to stir up one another
to love and good works”
“Because we are members of His body” (Eph. 5:30), the men’s fellowship at First Independent Methodist Church enjoyed an amazing cookout. We converged on the home of Billy & Carol Mason on May 18th and shared in conversation while our brother Billy grilled most delicious hamburgers and hot dogs. We know that where two are three are gathered in His name, He is present. I am sure He enjoyed our fellowship as much as we did. We hope you will join us next time.
